Album review

The album that I will be reviewing today is Abbey Road. This is one of my favorite albums, because we have this album at home and I have listend to it so much. What makes it different from other Beatles albums is that many of the songs were unfinished, so it is like one big song that was connected from different pieces. However, I think that it works and it turned out well. Even though I don't like every song, most of them are very creative and unique. If you have a record player, I would recommend this album.

A principle to keep

It was hard to find one principle to write about because there are many important principles that could be applied universally. For example, in The Road, one principle that they find important is not eating people, and that is what they use as a divide between “good guys” and “bad guys”. They also say “That’s what the good guys do. They keep trying” which means that they also value hard work and perseverance, and I agree that putting hard work into something important is a good principle. Another principle would be to appreciate what you have and to not waste. This principle has been instilled in me ever since I first watched one of my favorite movies, where the characters find a place with exactly what they were looking for in abundant quantities, but when one of them takes more than what they need, the place collapses. Besides this example, it is universal that people should be grateful in order to increase their happiness.

Thankful for a classmate

Hello all of y'all. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and there are so many things to be thankful for, and one of those things is the people that I get to spend English class with. I am thankful for our whole class and I appreciate everyone in it, but one classmate that I am thankful for  is Elizabeth, because she is so nice to and we always have something  to talk about . Another classmate that I am thankful for is Jenny because she is so funny and I have had so many fun times being around her.  She also does cross country, which is cool. Thank you for reading this and I hope that you all enjoy your Thanksgiving break.

What did Margaret do?

Near the end of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, Margaret shoots from a car at a buffalo that was attacking Francis Macomber, and the buffalo kills him. Even though her intentions were not totally clear, from what I read in the story, it seems like Margaret did intentionally kill her husband.
The first thing that happened to show her intent was when Macomber shot a lion, but did not fully kill the animal. Later, the wounded animal charged, and he ran away in panic. Then, it says that Francis saw that his wife had seen the whole thing happen. This means that she was aware of the power that an injured animal was capable of using. Therefore she would have known that shooting at the buffalo would have made it attack Francis even more.
Another thing to suggest that his death was intentional was that Margaret had a motive to murder him, because him being able to fight the buffalo was a high moment for him, but at the same time it did the opposite for her because it lowered her standing in the relationship. The book also states that "He was very wealthy, and would be much wealthier, and he knew she would not leave him now", so it would seem illogical to kill Francis because he was her source of money. However, him facing the buffalo may have been enough to make her take advantage of the opportunity to get rid of him.
Finally, Wilson makes it seem intentional by the quote "Why didn't you poison him? That's what they do in England", because Wilson saw what had happened and knew that she probably did kill him on purpose.

For this assignment, we were supposed to come up with 6 6-word stories.

John proctor: hero or stooge?

In my opinion, John Proctor is more accurately described as a hero than a stooge. In order for him to be a stooge, he would have to be there to support or serve an authority, which in The Crucible could have been the court. However, I think that that is the opposite of what John Proctor did. He had no problem defying the court, because he knew that what they thought about witchcraft being practiced was false.
John Proctor was not a completely moral Puritan , because he did not always go to church and could not even name all 10 commandments. He also cheated on his wife while she was sick with Abigail. This made him guilty of his actions because he had a good name and was against hypocrisy. When the other characters, especially Abigail, accuse others of participating in witchcraft (and getting killed for it) just to save their own lives, John Proctor was accused of witchcraft himself and was willing to die, just to put an end to other innocent people dying. He also overcame his own guilt by confessing that he commuted adultery with Abigail in front of everybody. That, in my opinion makes John Proctor a hero.

There Goes the Neighborhood

One example of 2 groups of people that inhabit the same space as eachother is when people from America visit or live in France. Although this can happen in any country, France is an extremely common destinations for Americans to go to.
Many Americans do not speak the French language. Because France, especially Paris is visited by millions of people each year, this has  affected the experience of both the Amricans and Parisians  in Paris. Most  people there can speak English, which would be convenient for those who do not know French. Many things have been changed to accommodate people who can't speak the language, such as restaurant menus, transit card machines, and museum guides in English.
However, this is not necessarily a good thing, because some people see this as invading the culture. Some people have a belief that Parisians  are more closed off to Americans or even rude. In my experience visiting there, people have had a positive attitude towards me talking in French. I don't speak it perfectly, but I have still received compliments on my good French just because of the attempt. As a French person, it would seem rude to have someone expect to speak their language in your country, but most people are fine communicating in English, if you start with "Parlez-void Anglais?". In my opinion, I think that it is respectful and useful to learn how to communicate in their native language, even if you aren't fluent.
